At Alpha Oak we have two teams of dedicated flooring fitters who are available to fit our floors should you so require.
Fitting an oak floor is a specialist job that requires certain skills and tools to be done correctly.
The moisture content of a subfloor is critical and we strongly advise that moisture checks are carried our prior to fitting of an oak floor.
All wood flooring must be acclimatised before fitting commences. This allows the wood to reach the ambient temperature and humidity of the environment in which it is to be fitted. This will take a minimum of one week for engineered and two weeks for solid oak flooring.
The flooring needs to be placed in the room in which they are to be laid.
Any wrapping should be loosened around the boards to allow for a free passage of air.
Avoid placing directly next to heat source during this initial period. Instruction guidelines on acclimatisation are included with the flooring at delivery.
Flooring can be fitted either by specialist adhesive direct to concrete sub floor or by ‘secret nailing’ onto plywood, battens or joists.
It is vitally important that whoever is fitting your flooring has a full understanding of the correct methods and is familiar with the requirements of oak flooring in relation to natural expansion etc.
The fitters at Alpha Oak are hardwood flooring specialists, they are able to discuss your individual requirements during a site visit, including advised fitting method and finish required.
The customer will then be provided with a quotation for the completed job.
At the time of survey a moisture reading will be done at the property to ensure it is suitable for oak flooring. There may be a small charge for this service, which is then deducted from the final price on completion of the work.
